Monday July 20, 2026 is expected to have a heat index over 100 degrees.. That means the asphalt in the parking lot will be over 120 degrees. PLEASE do not plan to bring any donated household goods on Monday July 20th. We would like to keep the staff and volunteers inside. They will be only outside long enough to bring in food items. PLEASE bring any household goods you are donating later in the week when it is in the 80's not over 100.

We are taking reservations for backpacks filled with school supplies. We will be taking reservations from July 8th until July 28th or the list is filled whichever comes first. You may come in to Shawnee Community Services between 10:30am and 2:30pm Monday through Friday to get your reservation receipt. You may call 913-268-7746 to make your reservation.
