FOOD PANTRY

Shawnee Community Services
Serving the Community

On average, 320 households per month benefit from the pantry boxes; and 165 households benefit daily from the general free bakery and produce items.

Shawnee Community Services
FREE CANNED GOODS

Available by appointment. This program provides for 320 families per month.

FRESH BREAD AND BAKERY ITEMS

Available Monday through Saturday (first come first serve basis).

The free bakery/variety foods aisle is open to anyone who can access our location. We do not use any program to qualify persons to receive food. We have an open door and people find us by word of mouth or are referred by another agency.  The “pantry box” program requires an appointment. There is a limited number of appointments each week.  Get an appointment by calling 913-268-7746   (calls are taken beginning 9am Monday until the limit for the week is reached).

DONATE

The pantry always needs additional food to meet the increasing demand. Your neighborhood, scout troop or church could collect canned food.Your tax deductible donation will be acknowledged with a receipt. Your donation will directly impact persons in the KC metro area. All donations remain in the Kansas City area. Your donation will purchase food for the pantry or help with emergency cash assistance to clients needing help with prescriptions, gasoline, utilities, and more.

2/15/2024 The current needs list:  canned meats;  rice sides; tomato sauce / diced tomatoes, potato sides, strawberry or grape jelly/jam.
